C
Indirect Object Pronouns
HELPFUL HINT
Indirect object pronouns tell
to whom
or
for whom
the action
is performed.
David throws me (i.o.)
the ball. (d.o.)
David me tira el balón.
When an indirect object
(i.o.)
pronoun
and a direct object
(
d.o.)
pronoun
are used side by side,
the indirect object pronoun
comes first.
Direct + Indirect Object
In Spanish,
if there is an infinitive verb,
the indirect object pronoun is attached
to the end of the verb forming
one word.
If both the indirect object
and direct object pronouns are used
together, they are both attached--
indirect object first.
David wants to throw me the ball.
David wants to throw us the ball.
David quiere tirármelo.
David quiere tirárnoslo.
David wants to throw me it.
David wants to throw us it.
