Possessive adjectives
(full form, Spanish only) are used
for emphasis. They always follow
the noun they modify. The translation
is the same as the short form.
Él es amigo mío. (m)
Ella es amiga mía. (f)
He is my friend.
She is my friend.
Possessive adjectives (short form)
show possession. In Spanish they agree in
number (singular or plural) with the noun
they are modifying. They always preceed
the noun.
Él es mi amigo. (m)
Ella es mi amiga. (f)
Ellos son mis amigos. (m)
Ellas son mis amigas. (f)
He is my friend.
She is my friend.
They are my friends.
They are my friends.
POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES
Ellos son amigos míos. (m)
Ellas son amigas mías. (f)
They are my friends.
They are my friends.
Possessive adjectives show
possession. With
possessive adjective pronouns
you simply drop the noun.
Stressed Form
Your books are more expensive than mine.
Los libros tuyos son más caros que los míos. (m)
Your boots are more expensive than mine.
Las botas tuyas son más caras que las mías. (f)
These are mine. Estos son os. (m)
