Holidays
I am excited. There are a lot of holidays
that we get to celebrate, such as Easter,
Halloween , and Christmas. My favorite
holiday is Thanksgiving. We cook a turkey
and all my family comes to dinner (there are
twenty people). However, there is one thing
that I don’t like--I have to wash the dishes
afterwards.
Días festivos
Estoy emocionado. Hay muchos días festivos que
celebramos, como la Pascua, y el día de Brujas. y
la Navidad. Mi día de fiesta preferida es el día de
Acción de Gracias. Cocinamos un pavo y toda mi
familia viene a la cena (hay veinte personas). Sin

Housekeeping
What are you going to do today? Do you
want to go to the park?
I can’t. I have to work.
What do you have to do?
I have to clean the house—wash the floors,
clean the bathrooms, clean the windows, and
dust the furniture. I also have to take out
the garbage. Do you want to help me?
No thank you. I don’t have time.
Limpieza de casa
¿Qué vas a hacer hoy? ¿Quieres ir al parque?
No puedo. Tengo que trabajar.
¿Qué tienes que hacer?
Tengo que limpiar la casa—lavar los pisos, limpiar
los baños, limpiar las ventanas, y sacudir los

Dinero
Quiero comprar un carro nuevo. Necesito ahorrar
mucho dinero porque un auto es muy caro. También
algún día quiero comprar una casa para mi familia.
Una casa es aún más cara que un auto. También
mis hijos desean ir a la universidad. Tengo planes de
ir al banco frecuentemente para depositar dinero en
mi cuenta. Necesito ahorrar mucho dinero.
Money
I want to buy a new car. I need to save a lot
of money because a car is very expensive.
Someday I also want to buy a house for my
family. A house is even more expensive than a
car. Also my children want to go to college. I
plan to go to the bank and deposit money in
my account regularly. I need to save a lot of
money.

Measurements
Teacher: Today we are going to have a lesson
on quantities. We are going to make soup for
the whole class. We don’t want to make too
much--we don’t want to make too little,
either. I have some questions for you. How
many pints are there in a quart? How many
quarts are there in a gallon? You also must
know how many teaspoons there are in a
tablespoon. We need to know how to measure
the ingredients in the recipe. We want the
soup to be good.
Medidas
Maestro: Hoy vamos a tener una lección acerca de
las cantidades. Vamos a hacer una sopa para toda
la clase. No queremos hacer demasiado--no
queremos hacer muy poquito tampoco. Tengo unas
preguntas para ustedes. ¿Cuántas pintas hay en un
cuarto? ¿Cuántos cuartos hay en un galón?
También ustedes deben saber cuántas cucharaditas
hay en una cucharada. Necesitamos saber medir los
ingredientes de la receta. Queremos que la sopa sea
buena.
